Supermarket Showdown

The Carbon Ninja leads a shopper around the supermarket and encourages various high-carbon choices, until the Green Ninja intervenes in the big showdown. The agitated Carbon Ninja decides it's time to punish the Green Ninja once and for all. As a fight erupts, the Carbon Ninja uses his Thin Jim (jerky) sword to slash at the Green Ninja and backs him into a corner. With nowhere left to go, the Green Ninja reaches for the only thing he can defend himself with, a pair of turkey drumsticks. The Green Ninja eventually defeats the Carbon Ninja, leaving him helpless in a shopping cart.

Fresh versus processed foods: The Carbon Ninja finds a young lady debating which apples to buy, and he encourages her to get the handy pre-sliced apples in a ziplock bag. He also leads her towards various other frozen and processed foods. The Green Ninja uses the power of low-carbon food (carrots and turkey drumsticks) to defeat the Carbon Ninja. Find out more about the carbon footprint of different foods.

Corn: When the shopper asks about getting some fresh corn, the Carbon Ninja is horrified and quickly retrieves a basketful of corn products including corn flakes, corn chips, canned corn, fruit juice, candy bars, and coke.

Food transportation: The shopper wants something healthy, and the Carbon Ninja steers her to a tray of individually packaged fresh mangos, air transported from a tropical country. Foods transported by air have a high carbon footprint, and, generally, it is a much better choice to look for locally grown produce.
